How Does Chiropractic Help the Body Heal?

Healing 101
In order to understand Chiropractic’s role in healing, we must first consider healing itself. If you think about your body, it may surprise you that there are over 37 trillion cells that make up our bones, muscles, organs, tissues, and glands. These cells are constantly undergoing and adapting to stressors in the environment and often need to adapt or be replaced based on the bodies ability to adapt to environmental demands. For instance, if you undergo a heavy workout or do a job that requires a lot of lifting, the muscle cells in your lower back have to adapt to the demands placed on them and some cells may inevitably need to be replaced.  There is an innate intelligence in each of us that is far superior to our educated brain which knows when cells need to be replaced. This intelligence directs the life force of the body to not only replace the damaged tissue, but allow the healthy cells to perform their job at its maximum health potential.

Chiropractic’s Connection to Healing
If the life force that directs the body is interfered with, the body does not have the ability to recreate itself normally. This sets the body down the road of disease and dysfunction. Chiropractors work primarily on one thing-the detection and correction of vertebral subluxations. A subluxation occurs when a vertebrae has fallen out of alignment with the vertebrae above and below it resulting in nerve pressure, irritation and interference of the mental impulses (life force) that go to varying tissues in the body. The Chiropractor’s job is to remove the subluxations and keep the spine subluxation free. Doing this allows optimum mental impulses to get to the tissues and allows greater potential of those tissues to heal and stay healthy. Although Chiropractors are renowned for being able to help neck and back pain, freeing up these subluxations has also been known to help with a variety of health conditions like….

  • ADD, ADHD and inability to study and focus
  • A Healthy or difficult Pregnancy
  • Chemical stress
  • Headaches
  • Ear Infections
  • Emotional stress
  • Joint pain
  • And more

Color Chiropractic Helps you Explore Physical, Chemical and Emotional Stressors to Subluxations

At Color Chiropractic, we have grown to understand that physical, chemical and emotional stressors contribute to specific patterns of subluxation. We emphasize the importance of good alignment while also educating and helping our patients discover what stressors are leading them to re-subluxate. One of the techniques we use is called Applied Kinesiology which stresses the idea of health problems resulting from the bodies inability to adapt to physical, chemical and mental stress (AKA Triad of Health).

Physical Stress can range from a whiplash accident to sitting at your desk all day. Birth itself can exert an extreme amount of pressure on the spine.

Chemical Stress is eating too much sugar and preservatives to breathing in toxic air in your home, school or at work. This imbalance upsets the body’s chemistry and disrupts the tone of the muscles, tendons and ligaments resulting in subluxations.

Mental Stress is something everyone has experienced from tense situations to re-occurring stresses that occur everyday. Mental stress causes the ligaments and muscles to tighten and result in subluxations. We incorporate powerful strategies like the Neuro-Emotional Technique to help our patients correct these subluxation patterns and develop new ways to overcome emotional challenges.
